Air Flow Meters and AnemometersDiagnosing proper air flow in buildings ensures occupant comfort and health, saves on energy use, and protects the integrity of the building. While rules of thumb have served well (mostly) in providing conditioned air, advances in air flow tools have made it easy and affordable to diagnose trouble spots and correctly size HVAC equipment. Anemometers are able to ensure each area receives the right volume, or to measure drops in air velocity due to duct leaks or restrictions. Air capture hoods (or balometers) are perfect for balancing airflow in a duct system, or for quick spot testing of air supply or exhaust ventilation. Duct Blasters and duct leak test systems pressurize ductwork to measure overall air leakage and aid in pinpointing leak locations. Manometers and pressure meters can measure air velocity, calculate air volume, measure total external static pressure, and make other pressure calculations.
