Energy Conservatory Small Pressure Pan 12x14

This smaller pressure pan from The Energy Conservatory is great for identifying areas of duct leakage near normal sized residential and commercial duct registers. The pressure pan is constructed of tough molded plastic and seals well to the ceiling with its EPDM gasket. It features a pressure tap for connection to your manometer (not included) and comes with a 10' section of hose. Also included is a painter's pole adapter that allows you to connect a standard size handle (not included) for easier pressure pan testing of registers in high ceilings. The pole adapter also doubles as a handle for lower ceilings when the pole is not needed.

The pressure pan is used in conjunction with a blower door to approximate the location and amount of duct air leakage. While the blower door is depressurizing the building, and with the air handler blower motor off, the pressure pan is placed over a duct register. Since ductwork is intended to be inside the conditioned space, the manometer should read 0 with reference to the interior pressure. The greater the pressure difference shown with the pressure pan in place, the greater the duct connection to the outdoors (assuming the ducts are in unconditioned space). Because there is no register taping and virtually no setup, pressure pan testing provides a quick snapshot of duct condition or of the success of recent air sealing efforts.
