General Tools & Instruments began as the brainchild of Abe and Lillian Rosenberg in New York City in 1922. Originally dubbed General Hardware Manufacturing Co., the company specialized in the wholesale of "hard goods," offering a full-range of domestic and professional items from clothesline pulleys and screen-door hardware, to specialty hand tools.
In the 21st century General Tools & Instruments offers a full line of hand tools and test and measurement instruments. From borescopes to manometers to thermal cameras, General Tools has the equipment professionals rely on in industries as diverse as HVAC, construction, energy auditing, predictive maintenance, and home performance. Still run by the same family, General Tools embodies the values of a time gone by while creating the diagnostic tools of our changing world.
